3D SCANNING

3D SCANNING

3D Scanning is a process of creating point cloud by contactless scanning of physical models. The shadows formed by projecting laser or white light stripes onto the product from a source are sensed by the camera which is connected to the system. Then, these shadows are transferred to the computer, and point clouds are formed. The scanned model should be stable in this process.

Redundant scanning areas are trimmed and arranged through a software. The points are connected, and their mesh optimization is done to form a closed geometry composed of small polygonal (triangle, quadrangles etc.) surfaces. After the point cloud is optimized, it is converted into .stl format. The scanned object then becomes ready for surface modelling and rapid prototyping.

Artistic objects, humans or immobile items as well as industrial parts can be scanned. Depending on the quality of the scanning system, even a fingerprint or the body of a ship can be scanned.

As big parts are scanned, additional auxiliary methods such as photogrammetry are used. The main advantage of this method is that it makes multiple shoots possible around the object and facilitates the scanning processes of large scale and immovable objects or environments with no data loss.

If you would like to have a scan and get a quotation, just send us a few photos of the target product.
